Portfolio: A season in the Pyrenees through the eyes of Guillaume Saenz

The 2017/2018 season was rich in precipitation for the Pyrenees – not always at the right altitude though because, like in the Alps, the rain/snow limit seems to creep up year after year, but for powder hounds like Guillaume and his pal Jérémy Gey with their freebirds, the scope of opportunities seemed monumental.

“We had a ‘real winter’ this year! I don’t know if global warming had anything to do with it but the 0°C isotherm and the rain/snow limit was often high in the Pyrenees. Result: lots of liquid precipitation at the base of the resorts and a difficult season mentally and physically…we would have preferred a bit more sun but we did have snow which is the most important thing.”
