Travels 5: Aime 2000 – The cruise ship

1968 marked the launch of La Plagne, a second resort in the commune of Aime, nicknamed the “cruise ship of the snow”, this gigantic building conceived by Michel Bezançon had to adapt to a difficult plot which is battered by storms and sat on unstable gypsum rock. The solution was a monolithic building and a space reminiscent of the Unité d’Habitation signed off by Le Corbusier in Marseille. A self-contained world evoking a snow-bound cruise liner.
