Travels 03: God is raw

For the third episode of Travels, Julien Regnier explores the Eglise de la Croix Saint Sacrée in Chur, capital of the canton of Grisons in Switzerland. This triumph by Swiss architect Walter Maria Förderer  (1928-†2006) was built between 1967 and 1969 in a style close to brutalism, an architectural style very much in vogue between 1950-1970, a departure from refinement in favour of simplicity and starkness. Inside this catholic church topped with an impressive polygonal bell there’s no trace of opulence: fulfilment through emptiness. And as John said, “no one can enter the Kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.” John 3:5. A word to the wise…
